Edgars Q1 2024 Trading Update
August 1, 2014
It has been a busy season on the CSR front for the Edgars Group as we continue our drive to give back to the communities around us. These past 2 months have seen us taking part in “The Green concert”, a show put together by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate, and Dereck Mpofu the Green Ambassador, where Zahara came through and performed alongside local artists to raise funds for the Tokwe Mukosi flood victims. Edgars went a step further and invited customers to participate in this drive by dropping off non-perishable items in donation bins at 6 branches nationwide. We did not forget the Tsholotsho flood victims, and included them in this initiative. Edgars handed over the donations to the affected families in Tokwe Mukosi and Tsholotsho in July.
Edgars – Southern Eye Charity Walk – Fund raisers arrive at Hillside Dams.
Our staff and their families also took part in a charity walk on the 7th June organized by Southern Eye, that covered 15 kilometres in aid of Entembeni Old People’s Home & Ekuphumuleni Geriatric Nursing Home. This venture saw people walk from Bulawayo City Hall Car Park to Hillside Dams, braving the chilly morning for a good cause. The Winter Edition of the Look Cool For School competition also ran in April and May, with over 3,500 entries returned. 5 lucky children whose parents purchased jerseys and tracksuits from Edgars and Jet stores during the period walked away with brand new laptops, whilst 2 received juice extractors – talk about keeping healthy!
In the season, one of our own – Mr Steve Guwa – Edgars CSR Manager won the ZIM Manager of the Year Award in regards to CSR initiatives. Congratulations Steve, for the continued drive to give back to the communities we serve.
