Friday, 26 March 2026 — Edgars Stores, through its ongoing Be a Hero campaign, donated sports kits valued at US$2,500 to Nyakasikana Primary School as part of its Acts of Kindness initiative, with the beneficiary school selected by campaign winner and valued customer, Mrs Nyaradzai Mupamhanga. The donation was carried out in response to the growing need for adequate sporting resources within schools in the communities Edgars serves. By equipping Nyakasikana Primary School with essential sportswear and equipment, the initiative sought to promote active participation in sport, encourage teamwork, and support the holistic development of learners. The comprehensive donation included a wide range of sporting kits and equipment across multiple disciplines. Soccer teams received full kits for both boys and girls, along with match balls, socks, shin guards, and goalkeeper gloves. Netball players benefited from uniforms, bibs, and balls, while handball teams—both boys and girls—were equipped with uniforms, balls, and socks. Volleyball teams also received uniforms, balls, a net, and socks to support their training and competitive activities. In addition, the school was provided with training and athletics equipment, including cones of varying sizes, pumps, whistles, a shot put ball, and discus discs. A chess tournament board was also included to support cognitive development and extracurricular engagement beyond physical sport. The handover ceremony was attended by key stakeholders from both the local community and the education sector, including Councillor Mr Chaitwa, Headmistress Mrs Mandeya, Deputy Headmistress Mrs Munyonga, School Development Committee Chair Mr Bopoto, Secondary School Head Mr Mbulawa, and Sports Director Mr Gwerevende.
