Overview

Edgars Stores Limited (ESL) is a leading fashion powerhouse established in 1946, founded by Sydney Press. Edgars Stores is a Zimbabwean Company and was registered in November 1948. The group acquired Carousel Clothing factory in 1974 and the Jeans Company in 1993.

In 1984, another retail brand called Express was introduced and its first store opened in Harare’s Julius Nyerere Way. By 1988 there were 24 Express outlets. In November 2011, Express Mart was rebranded and Jet Stores launched, to offer more value and variety to customers. In April 2019, EDCON sold its shares to Sub Sahara Capital Group & Bellfield Limited, thereby ensuring the continued stability and growth of Edgars Stores Limited in Zimbabwe. Edgars Zimbabwe also purchased Jet brands from EDCON expanding its market share within Zimbabwe.

The retail giant is one of the dominant clothing retailers and has diversified its product and service offerings. Edgars Stores Limited offers a comprehensive range of services to its clientele base such as clothing retailing, loans, financial services, and clothing manufacturing through its five divisions namely-Edgars Stores, Jet Stores, Club Plus Microfinance, Carousel Manufacturing and Express Stores.

Edgars Stores Limited now boasts of 27 Edgars Stores and 36 Jet Stores across the country and still counting.
