As part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, Edgars Stores Limited (ESL) donated clothing items to Alpha Cottages Children’s Home in Masvingo on 9 September 2026. The donation, which included jerseys, jackets, tracksuits, shorts and other clothing items, was aimed at supporting the daily needs of children residing at the institution. Alpha Cottages Children’s Home provides care and support to orphaned and vulnerable children. The institution supports children referred through relevant social welfare channels, providing accommodation, education support and a caring environment as they grow. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Edgars Stores Limited representative the Marketing and Corporate Affairs Executive Mrs Justina Machinya reaffirmed ESL’s commitment to giving back to communities across Zimbabwe. “Edgars has a Corporate Social Responsibility programme where we give back to the community. We do this with love because Zimbabweans have supported us, and we appreciate every opportunity to contribute positively to communities,” she said. Mrs Machinya added that ESL would continue supporting initiatives that uplift vulnerable communities. “Edgars clothes are known for their quality, and we hope these items will continue helping the children. We will continue coming back and supporting the important work being done here,” she said. Caretaker Superintendent Mrs Chishamiso Lidia Mhizha expressed appreciation to Edgars Stores Limited for the donation, noting the impact it would have on the children. She highlighted that Alpha Cottages currently supports 46 children, including those attending primary and secondary schools, boarding schools, polytechnics and vocational institutions. “Some of our children have lost parents, some were abandoned, while others come from situations where families are unable to care for them. Support such as this makes a difference in their lives,” she said. Mrs Mhizha thanked the Edgars CEO, management and employees for partnering with Alpha Cottages. “We appreciate Edgars for standing with us. These clothes will assist our children for a long time as Edgars clothes are of high quality and will last for a long time, we hope this relationship continues as we are now one family,” she said. The initiative reflects Edgars Stores Limited’s continued commitment to community support and its role in creating meaningful impact beyond retail.
